Charcoal is bold, moody, and full of potential. In this four-week class, students will explore the drama of value, texture, and form using both charcoal sticks and pencils. We’ll cover essential charcoal techniques—smudging, lifting, erasing, and layering—as we work on observational studies, still lifes, and atmospheric drawings. This class is perfect for artists ready to explore a medium that’s both forgiving and expressive, offering deep contrast and dynamic range.
