Bold, vibrant, and richly textured—oil pastels are a medium all their own. In this introductory course, students will learn the unique handling techniques of oil pastels, including layering, blending, and mark-making, to create expressive still life compositions. Unlike soft pastels, oil pastels offer a creamy, crayon-like consistency that allows for painterly effects without the need for fixatives or brushes.
Prerequisite: Drawing 100 at Kate's Art School. Supply list provided here; students bring their own materials. Adults only. Free Open Studio Sessions included.
